ShelfHive is an app for cataloging a physical movie collection (VHS, DVD, Blu-ray, 4K and more). This policy explains what the app stores, what leaves your device, and the choices you have. In this policy, "we" means the ShelfHive developer. Questions can go to our contact email.
The titles you add, your wishlist, notes, formats, and settings are stored on your device, in the app's own storage. If you never sign in, that is the only place your collection exists. Clearing the app's data or uninstalling it removes it, so we suggest exporting a backup file from Settings now and then.
Signing in lets us keep a private backup so you can restore your collection on a new phone. When you sign in we receive and store your Google account ID, your name and your email address. We store a copy of your collection (titles, formats, wishlist, notes and poster links) under your account. We use this only to provide the backup and to keep it in sync across your devices.
You can delete your cloud backup and your account data at any time with Delete my cloud backup in Settings. Signing out does not delete the backup; deleting does.
If you turn on a share link, the wishlist you choose to share, the name you type for the list, and any "I'll get this" marks from friends are stored on our server and shown to anyone who has the link. Turn the link off in the share screen and it stops working. Do not put anything private in a shared list.
| Service | Why |
|---|---|
| Google Sign-In | Optional sign-in for backup |
| Cloudflare | Hosts the app and stores backups and share links |
| TMDB | Movie details and posters |
| UPC product database | Identifies barcodes |
| Google Fonts and code libraries (unpkg) | Loads the app's fonts and the scanner and text-reading tools; these providers can see your IP address when they deliver files |
We do not use advertising or analytics services, and we do not sell or rent your data to anyone.
ShelfHive is a general-audience collecting app and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has signed in, contact us and we will delete the data.
Data in transit is encrypted (HTTPS). Backups are stored with Cloudflare and are tied to your Google account. No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your own exported backup of anything you cannot replace.
If we change this policy in a meaningful way we will update the date above and, where it matters, tell you in the app.
